Issue 003 • February 2002

Welcome to the third edition of the LimeLetter. This edition will be somewhat different then previous and future LimeLetters. There has been a wealth of Bea news and events the past month. Therefore, I had to change the format of this edition to accommodate all the exciting news. So, lets cut out the crap and get to the good stuff. Enjoy!

Kev!
So, what's all the fuss about you ask? Quite simple... Bea Arthur has finished her nationwide tour and is currently in New York City... On Broadway. And is she ever loving it!
Bea on Broadway - Just Between Friends ::

Bea has made it back to her home... Broadway! Though she has been getting hammered by the critics, her shows are solid packed with her fans, friends, and people who want entertainment! In fact, the show's run at the Booth Theatre has been extended two weeks, until March 24th due to her success! 8 weeks of solid Bea, who could ask for anything more!

There is still time to see her Broadway show in New York City by contacting the Booth Theatre on 222 West 45th Street.

Details of the show will be in the next LimeLetter.
Television Appearances ::

Bea went back to Broadway, as she says in her show, to get out of the box (referring to her television era). However, Bea has been on many television shows this month giving some of the best interviews I have ever seen.

A must see was Bea on the CBS Sunday Morning Show. It was a 10 minute intimate portrait of Bea, focusing on her entire life. We got a few more glimpse into her early years, behind the scene footage from the Maude years, and a few clips from her Broadway show. If you missed this piece, you can order it HERE directly from CBS!

In addition to this fabulous airing, Bea has also appeared on February 8th's Rosie O'Donnell Show and February 13th's Good Morning America on ABC.

There also has been some Bea sightings on other shows such as the February 15th's airing of Classic Bloopers, where they showed a clip of Bea goofing up on Maude. PAX ran the 3 episodes back to back last week of Dave's World where Bea guest stared as Dave's mother.

Finally, Bea will be appearing in the upcoming documentary release of 'Broadway the Movie'. I will keep you up to date with any new information about this.

What the people are saying ::

I have been getting a tremendous amount of positive feedback from people about Bea's show and the web site. Here are a few clips from emails I've received. I'm keeping the names off from the senders to avoid any problems.

"I want to thank you for putting this site out for the fans of Bea Arthur's. I just found it on-line and I've read it through. I actually learned a few things about the esteemed career of this amazing and groundbreaking rolemodel for all woman."

"Bea's show was excellent last night...I never realized what a great voice she had! The audience seemed to like her and Billy very much, and it seemed to be a rousing success. In fact, the show's run at the Booth Theatre was extended two weeks, until March 26, I believe. She mixed the stories and songs very well."

"This is great!! She was my youngest brother's favorite--I have to watch the reruns without him now--he died of AIDS June 9, 2001--not long ago and the grief just goes on--but, I had to smile at your site--he would of loved it--so, Todd, if you can hear me, tune that Mac into this warm, wonderful site."

"Just wanted to say thank you. I am a tremendous Bea fan. I have been for 25 years. I am so pleased I was able to find your site.I like you could hardly find anything on her on the net. It is nice to finally learn about this wonderful actress. Thanks again and keep up the good work. "
Bea Arthur Party UPDATE ::

Due to the overwhelming high number of RSVPs for the Bea party, I have been contemplating on canceling it. I simply do not have enough room for even half of the people that want to come. It is also not fair to exclude certain people that I had invited. Therefore, I decided to compromise!

The Bea Party is now going to be labeled as A Bea Arthur Get Together :) From 8pm to no later then 11pm, we will gather at my apartment where you can rummage through my Bea collection, listen to her Broadway CD, and watch a few clips of Bea on the television. Between 10 and 11, we will then all move to a local gay bar, just down the street from me, Sidetracks. Then, we will be a gathering of Bea fans at a bar and you can do whatever you would like!

If you can't make it before 10, then meet us at Sidetracks. We'll most likely be in the back room. I will have a shirt on that simply reads, 'Maude' :)

Sorry for any inconveniences to your plans, but I really have no choice in the matter at this point. You would understand once you saw our small, cluttered, one bedroom, apartment!
